The Story of ElanWS
2011 was a lonely time for the homebased entrepreneur. There was no way to connect with each, to share stories and issues that were common to us all. However, at the same time, many businesses were cropping up on Facebook. This struck an idea of making a Facebook page for homebased business entrepreneurs. We got to work, put up a page by the name of Elan Women’s Social Club, inboxed invites to many businesses and got a good number of responses. 23 ladies confirmed their presence and all 23 showed up. It was an amazing session, the first of its kind.
The idea of a group for homebased women entrepreneurs spoke to many and we were able to hold many meetups. The result was networking amongst women, leading to joint ventures and partnerships amongst them, not to mention new businesses that were inspired to start just by the awareness created by ElanWS.
Fast forward to 2013 when we finally decided to hold an exhibition which many had been asking for. It was one of the most successful exbitions for home based businesses at that time. The visitors kept flooding in and the sales kept piling up for the vendors.
After this there was no looking back back. We have had a multitude of networking meetups, workshops and exhibitions and plan on having many more.
